Rumours (May 2000)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Welcome to the beautiful home of Charles and Vivian Brooks. Charley is the Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance. His wife, Vivian, has a private income, owns several properties and is very wealthy.

This evening Charley and Viv are celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary and have invited their closest friends to join in the festivities. Their party guests are highly respected professionals, among them two lawyers, a tax consultant, a famous TV cook, a Harley Street psychiatrist and a prospective MP. All are extremely affluent.

As they arrive, Ken, Len, Glenn, Chris, Claire, Cookie, Cassie and Ernest encounter a minor problem, complicated very soon by a slightly more perplexing problem, an ever increasing problem, which soon becomes a catastrophic problem! In an attempt to resolve the problem, the eminent octet embarks on a fantastic journey of lies, cover-ups and mistaken identity. The stakes are high. Rumours, scandal and calamity hover above them all!

...it’s played out on a wonderful set, with stunning costumes and so much visual humour you don’t know where to look next...
