Steel Magnolias (Nov 1993)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Steel Magnolias was written by Robert Harling, a Louisiana law graduate who then worked as an actor in regional theatre and television in America. In October 1985, after events which seriously affected both his family and himself, Steel Magnolias was first written as a short story, which he then developed into a full-length play.

Steel Magnolias is the true story of Robert's sister, Susan, and was written in memory of her and dedicated to her son Robert.

Phoenix Theatre are honoured to bring present the North-East premiere of this wonderfully moving play.

...emotional, amusing, hard-hitting, brilliant. One runs out of adjectives to describe the performances in this play...
