'Allo 'Allo (May 2003)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

This long-running sitcom by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft ran for an impressive nine years. 'Allo 'Allo tells the story of Rene Artois, cafe owner and unwilling helper of the Resistance in a small town in occupied France.

Hoping to avoid the war and enjoy a simple life of making a living from his cafe, avoiding his wife and her singing, and spending time with his waitress mistresses, Rene often found himself foul of plans by either the resistance to assassinate his customers, ie: the Germans, to hide escaping airmen for the Resistance and collaborate with a bit of embezzlement with the occupying forces.

How does he do it? You'll have to go along to find out. But you'll have to listen very carefully, they'll say this only once.....

...it should come as no surprise that Phoenix’s production of the stage version of ‘Allo ‘Allo which opened at Aberdeen Arts Centre last night would be nothing short of outstanding...
