Phoenix Youth Theatre
Phoenix Youth Theatre is a drama and dance school based in Aberdeen, Scotland. Children aged 6-18 are represented in each of our classes on a quota system.
We are a performing theatre school and classes will always build throughout the year towards at least one major production before the Summer break - the best way to consolidate the theatre skills the children have been taught.
In our experience with children, we have found that working in theatre arts builds confidence while teaching discipline, co-operation, teamwork, and creating friendships that will last a lifetime. We do not aim to create superstars, but to induce a love and appreciation of the theatre and to develop skills which will aid our children throughout life.
In each drama class, acting skills are taught by Liz Milne BEM and Clare Haggart BEM, with singing sessions led by Kevin Haggart, Aberdeen’s foremost Musical Director. Children who attend our theatre classes, also have the opportunity to attend stage dance classes with our dance specialist, Claire Chernouski, who covers all styles of stage dance for both boys and girls, but without the formality of leotards, ballet shoes and bun nets! For a sneak pick of our dancers in action, we have a video clip at the bottom of this page.
The emphasis during each class is fun, which, along with hard work, produces the quality of productions for which Phoenix is famous.
Phoenix Youth Theatre will encourage the quiet child to develop confidence and the lively child to cultivate composure, all while having a thoroughly enjoyable time!
Our classes are held on Saturdays at the following times - 9:45am, 11:15am, 1:15pm and 2:45pm, or on Tuesdays at 4:15pm. Each class lasts an hour and a half.
