Guys & Dolls (Nov 1997)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Phoenix Theatre turns its attention to the ultimate crowd-pleaser, Frank Loesser's masterpiece - the wonderful musical Guys & Dolls!

Take a score simply bursting with classic songs, like 'Sit Down You're Rockin' The Boat', 'Luck Be A Lady Tonight', 'If I Were A Bell' and, of course, the title song itself. Add to this a superb collection of New York low-life characters like Nathan Detroit and his long-time fiancée Adelaide, Sky Masterson (the highest betting gambler of them all), and Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Nathan's friend and colleague. Mix in some contrast in the shape of Sergeant Sarah Brown and other members of the Salvation Army who run the Save-a-Soul Mission on Broadway, and you have a sure-fire recipe for an evening of pure enjoyment.

We'll lay you 8 to 5 it'll make you very happy!

...this show is a sure-fire winner and should not be missed...
