The Boy Friend (May 1999)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Light and frothy, packed full of memorable music, delightful dancing, classic comedy and with more than a hint of romance, The Boy Friend is the perfect show for a summer evening.

The year is 1926 and our story begins in the south of France, Nice to be precise, in Mme Dubonnet's Finishing School for Young Ladies at the Villa Caprice. Here we meet Polly Browne and her friends, all ‘Perfect Young Ladies’ preparing for a fancy dress ball. Polly's father, Percival, is so wealthy that she cannot find a boyfriend who will love her for herself and not her money. Enter Tony, delivery boy for a local costumier ... or is he?!

Don't worry! This is the sunny Mediterranean at the height of the roaring 20s, a happy ending for all is guaranteed.

...as usual with Phoenix productions the cast are outstanding...
