The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (March 2012)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Well, howdy folks.  Let us tell ya’ll the tear-jerkin’ tale of The Chicken Ranch – probably the finest pleasure palace in all Texas – and damn near a national institution – and what happens when that self-righteous and holier-than-thou TV Watchdog, Melvin P. Thorpe, gets to hear about Miss Mona and her girls.

Ed Earl Dodd, our celebrated cussin’ Sheriff of the Law is kinda’ stuck between a rock and a hard place – bein’ as how he and Mona have knowd each other since God was a boy.  Why, practically the whole damn male population of Lanville County, and beyond, has visited the Chicken Ranch since as far back as 1890 when the Ladies of the House learned how to treat their customers real nice and established the traditions of the place…

But we ain’t gonna tell ya’ll no more of the story right now… Get goin’ now, y’hear – yeehaw!

...a romping, stomping, lewd and shrewd look at the people behind the moral outrage in a raucous performance by Phoenix Theatre...
