Hello, Dolly! (June 2007)

Aberdeen Arts Centre

Aberdeen's Phoenix Youth presents the wonderful smash-hit musical "Hello, Dolly!".  Featuring talented young performers from Aberdeen and the North East, this classic Broadway musical will burst on to the Aberdeen stage in June with Phoenix Youth's own brand of energy, enthusiasm and top notch production standards.

"Hello, Dolly!" is the story of Mrs Dolly Gallagher Levi's plan to marry Horace Vandergelder, the well-known half-a-millionaire. She embarks on her favourite pastime  meddling  and, along the way, also succeeds in matching up the young and beautiful widow, Mrs Irene Molloy, with Horace Vandergelder's head clerk, Cornelius Hackl; his assistant, Barnaby Tucker, with Mrs Molloy's assistant, Minnie Fay; and the struggling artist, Ambrose Kemper, with Mr Vandergelder's weeping niece, Ermengarde.

What happens in the end?  Dolly's web of intrigue finally unravels and she gets her man, of course.

The show-stopping numbers in this sparkling production include:  "Put On Your Sunday Clothes", "It Takes a Woman", "Before the Parade Passes By", "Elegance", "The Waiters' Galop" and "Hello, Dolly!" itself.
